Industrialized construction as the key to change
This is what Wood Beton organized with the resources-prizes relating to the first two unassigned places of the “Competition of ideas for the construction of a Smart Domus Plus House” launched last year by the company and which awarded only the third place. Two free training days, of 8 hours each, which will take place at the Brescia Building School, Wednesday 7 November and Wednesday 14 November. The training is accredited by the Order of Engineers of the Province of Brescia and the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of the Province of Brescia: through the relevant websites it is possible to register for both events, which is mandatory. Educational objectives of the course: Understanding the market reasons that push towards off-site construction Know the main industrialized construction techniques for the new Apply the principles of off-site to retrofit operations Experiment with the use of materials (wood, steel and concrete) and new technologies Enhance architectural quality in industrialized construction processes.
Brief summary of the days: Wednesday 7 November 2018 – 09.00 – 18.00 The first day of training lays the foundations for understanding the new building paradigms of the future: evolution of demand, cost reduction and productivity increase, new technologies and elements of the circular economy. Wood, concrete, steel: off-site construction represents a perspective common to multiple technologies. The shift of production processes from the construction site to the factory represents a frontier that affects a wide variety of construction techniques and production processes, with constraints and opportunities that must be carefully evaluated and compared. The first day, after a historical overview of prefabricated and industrial construction, will offer a general introduction to Modern Construction Methods as practiced on a global scale and insights into design and methodological solutions by analyzing the times, costs and advantages of this approach to construction. Wednesday 14 November 2018 – 09.00 – 18.00 The Modern Construction Methods will be the drivers for investigating innovative construction technologies for the redevelopment of the existing heritage and its transformation with renewed energy and environmental performance at sustainable costs and times. The morning will be dedicated to the analysis of international cases and Italian solutions that will be explored through a technical and architectural perspective. In the afternoon, participants will be introduced to the use of software and applications (Rhinoceros and SketchUp) in order to freely apply the principles of modular architectural composition, through appropriately designed components.
